Reply to A Time For Lions: LOST SPOILERS

I am fine with some unanswered questions. That was a given. However, I am still confused with a few nagging points.

1. It’s easy to tell what is purgatory and what isn’t. In the last season, any clip showing people not on the island is purgatory. Anything on the island is not purgatory.

Juliet came to the island for a job opportunity, and never meant to stay that long but Ben refused to let her go. This was explained on screen. They explain most of the characters history fairly thoroughly. If you’re uncertain of a person, just google them or look on wikipedia/lostopedia.

2. Walt or some of the other characters may not be dead yet. Also, the other characters (Daniel, Charlotte etc) may have not established a relationship strong enough to be included in the core group. Mr. Eko might be with his brother, while Charlotte, Dan, his mother and Mr. Widmore are together. This could just be one purgatory. Also, getting every single cast member to shoot the same scene at the same time? Tricky as well.

If you remember from a previous episode, Michael explains that he is stuck on the island because he can’t make piece with what he is done. The same with Anna Maria and the same with Ben. (All committed murder, right?)

3. I don’t recall the final episode mentioning either a heaven or a hell. There is neither, only “moving on.” The other characters remain in purgatory until they are ready to move on. I would imagine dharma initiative people would not be with Jack and Kate as they had not formed a close enough bond. The same could even be said for Walt, who really wasn’t with the main cast that long.

4. Everything you’ve seen on the island happened. To quote the last episode directly, “What happened, happened.” So, yes, Ben did raise Danielle’s child, there was never an episode disputing this. I don’t see how this is a plot hole.

5. Eliose Hawking didn’t want them to go back to the island, THEY wanted to go back and seeked her out. The island is NOT purgatory. I repeat, the island IS NOT PURGATORY. The Oceanic Six escaped the island and returned to the real world. They did not return to purgatory either. They realized they all needed to go back, so they did. Eliose is not a gate-keeper, she is fully alive in present day. She just used to work for the Dharma Initiative.

6. You are perfectly alive on the island. It is a real place.

7. It wasn’t a purgatory, they were experiencing real events.

8. What Locke meant was, “I hope someone can make you ready to move on like you’ve done to me.” Jack fixing his spine allowed John to realize that he was dead, and therefore “freed” him.

9. I addressed this in question two.
